Four-Star Grimes wraps up final official visit, will see Vols again before commitment decision

by | Nov 4, 2019

Reggie Grimes is one of the purest athletes in all of America. He has had suitors from all across the country during his recruitment because of this. Outside of where he will attend school, one of the biggest questions in Grimes recruitment is what position he will play. Grimes is in decision mode, and these answers are fixing to start working themselves out. Grimes discusses it all here.

Grimes and his Ravenwood team ended the regular season with a victory over rival Independence on Friday night. The Raptors finished the season 9-1 and will look to make a deep playoff run. If all goes according to plan, Grimes will make his college decision during the said playoff run.

Grimes is still hearing from most of the schools on his list of finalists. He said of Tennessee, “We talk just about every week. I hear from a few different people every week. I talk to the main man a lot. I talk to JP a lot. Coach Rumph a lot. I hear from all of them. We talk a lot.”

Grimes went on to say, “it is a great environment there. I took my visit there three weeks ago. It is a great environment, and they need some help. If I were to go there, I could see myself helping them. I could see myself making plays there.

For Grimes, the thing that stands out the most about the home-state Volunteers is, “just the prospect of going in there and making a lot of plays. Ya know, the coaching staff went to school with dad or played with dad or played against dad. They all know him really well, and through him, they know me really well. It is a nice little family environment there.”

Grimes recently took an official visit to Oklahoma, and he used his final visit to Florida State over the weekend. Grimes may not be done taking visits as he works towards a decision, though.

Grimes said, “I plan on getting back to Bama one time, I plan on getting back to Tennessee another time since they are close, and maybe South Carolina. We will have to see how the schedule works out for that one.”

Grimes will make his college decision on November 28th. He will choose between Alabama, Florida State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Tennessee with several other schools fighting to stay in the mix.

Regardless of what position Grimes plays at the next level, one of these schools is getting a college ready student academically and one of the purest athletes in the country.

Grimes is rated as the 42nd overall prospect in the country, No. 2 WDE, and No 1. prospect in the state of Tennessee for the 2020 class, according to Rivals.
