James Robinson Commits to Tennessee

Aug 1, 2019 | Tennessee Commitments, VOL Articles

Tennessee has picked up another commitment today, this time from 3 star offensive guard James Robinson. The Montgomery, Alabama native is rated as the 42nd OG in the nation and 30th ranked player in Alabama, according to 247 Sports. However, this is a strange case. When you look at Robinson’s ranking you would think he is an average prospect. However, he has offers from top schools such as Auburn, Georgia, and Ole Miss. This leads many to believe that Robinson is one of the most underrated recruits in the nation.

Standing at 6’4’’ and weighing in at 327 pounds, Robinson is a giant get for Will Friend and the Volunteers. His size helps propel his game, and his strength just makes it unfair for opposing defensive linemen. I had the opportunity to watch some of Robinson’s film and was very impressed by what I saw. He is a relentless player, his own strength is his biggest strength, and he has the talent to simply shutdown opposing defensive linemen.

Nonetheless, Robinson is a big get for Tennessee. Everyone knows the struggles of Tennessee’s Offensive Line in recent years, and this get will help improve the struggling O-Line. Robinson joins Cooper Mays, a 4 star legacy recruit from Knoxville and Javontez Spraggins, a talented 3 star from Illinois as the commits on the offensive line for the 2020 class.
