Recruits Visiting Knoxville for Vols’ Match-Up Against UAB

by | Nov 1, 2019

It’s homecoming week on Rocky Top, and that means another weekend of key prospects taking a visit to Tennessee this weekend. Now usually on previous visits you’ll see a ton of in state talent and familiar faces that this staff has been recruiting for awhile now, but that’s not the case this time. The list of players visiting is quite small compared to last week but also a very interesting and important crop of prospects, so let’s get into it:

Tisdol was finally offered by Tennessee a couple of weeks ago. The 4-Star athlete from Wilcox County HS in Rochelle, Georgia is mostly being recruited by schools as a linebacker or defensive back, but is also a very solid prospect at running back. Some might even say his frame and explosiveness make him better for playing offense. With the need Tennessee has for a

2nd tailback in this class and the even bigger need for inside linebackers, Tisdol has become probably one of the most important prospects on the board. He seems very interested in Tennessee despite the late offer so it is important for the Vols to make a big impression on him this weekend.

Adams is a 6’3 315lb 4-Star interior lineman from Woodbridge HS in Virginia. He recently decommitted from Penn State and has opened his recruitment back up, and is taking an official visit to Tennessee this weekend. With a need on the offensive line, a player with Adams skill set could come in and get significant playing time as a freshman depending on which position of the line he chooses to play. Another pitch is that despite being in Virginia, Knoxville is only a few hours away from his hometown and would be closer than many of the other schools recruiting him. Like Tisdol, it’s gonna be very important for Tennessee to make a good first impression here, but it’ll also be interesting to watch how much of a push they make given the 3 2020 commits already on the interior line.

Beckwith has been on Tennessee’s Radar for quite awhile now. The 6’4 220lb 2 sport athlete from Florence, Alabama can play basically anywhere on the football field and be a huge boost to that position group, whether it’s receiver, tight end, tailback, outside linebacker and even quarterback where he plays for his high school team. He’s also a very solid basketball player and has gotten notice from some power 5 schools in that aspect. Tennessee has always been high on his radar but the biggest competition here is likely Florida, as the Gators have offered him a scholarship in both sports. The coaching staff is going to have to work hard here over the next couple of months to earn a commitment.

FUN FACT: he’s also the cousin of Tennessee basketball PG Lamonte Turner.

Anthony is an under the Radar 2021 prospect to keep an eye on at DB. The Manchester, TN native is a very underrated prospect that could play corner or safety at the next level with great speed and ball skills. He’ll be here on an unofficial and is hoping to land an offer. Will UT pull the trigger? We’ll see.

Other notable visitors:

3-Star WDE Jimari Butler

3-Star OL Kyree Miller (reschedules his official visit for this week, originally for last week)

3-Star WDE Simeon Barrow (Michigan State commit)

3-Star RB Cam Beckwith

4-Star RB Cody Brown

4-State TE Hudson Wolfe

4-Star OT Eli Sutton

3-Star QB Jaffari Pearson

3-Star DT Anquin Barnes

3-Star OT William Reed

Big recruiting weekend for not only 2020 but looking forward to the 2021 class with some key targets on campus. Let’s hope the homecoming crowd brings a solid environment for these kids to this game, along with an impressive showing by the team.
