Recruits Visiting for the South Carolina Game

by | Oct 25, 2019

Tennessee’s game against South Carolina tomorrow is not only important for the current season, but also very important on the recruiting trail as multiple major prospects are set to be in town for the weekend. The Vols have a little recruiting momentum this week after the Trio from Whitehaven decided to make it official all in about 1 hour on Tuesday night, and they hope to continue it here. Let’s start with the official visitors:

The 4-Star defensive lineman from Chattanooga is taking his official visit to Knoxville this weekend. Hardy is a player that isn’t exactly unfamiliar with UT or this coaching staff as he’s been on a ton of unofficial visits here over the past few months, and is definitely a priority for the Vols. Another noteworthy item is that he’s already really close with a few of the top players from the state, a few of which are already committed here and have helped in recruiting him to Tennessee. A potential commitment this week would be a major step in the development of this 2020 class.

The 4 star defensive tackle from Memphis is returning to Knoxville for an official just a few weeks after visiting unofficially for the Georgia game. A top 5 player in the state that could play either side or the line, Thomas has been a top target for this coaching staff for the better part of a year. He’s very close with the Whitehaven trio that committed earlier this week, along with the rest of the top talent in Memphis. Landing those 3 could’ve potentially helped Tennessee lock up Thomas as well. He’s set to commit at the All-American game in January but a great visit here could potentially get him to pull the trigger early.

The number 1 JUCO corner in the country has been committed to Tennessee for nearly 6 months now but hasn’t been back to campus since going public with his commitment back in May. It’s gonna be good for the coaching staff to get him back on campus and catch up with him, and good for Green to see his first Tennessee game. He has been hearing from other schools but hasn’t wavered on his commitment. If the visit goes well here, he might just shut it down and sign in December.

Miller just received his offer from Tennessee a couple of weeks ago, and is already heading to campus and meeting the coaches for the first time. Miller is a massive Lineman from Mesquite High School in Texas, standing at 6’5 and 365lbs. With 2 offensive guards already committed in this class, it’ll be interesting to see where Miller stands on Tennessee’s board and which side of the ball he would play on. A commitment from Miller would give Tennessee a very large chess piece that they could move around on either side of the line.

Here’s a list of unofficial visitors:

4-Star WR Thaiu Jones Bell (Alabama commit)

4-Star QB Harrison Bailey (Tennessee commit)

4-Star C Cooper Mays (Tennessee commit)

3-Star DT Damarjhe Lewis

3-Star OL James Robinson (Tennessee commit)

Briarcrest OL Rodney Newome

4-Star ATH Tray Curry (2021)

GA RB Antonio Martin Jr (2022)

TN OL Lance Williams (2023)

TN QB Ryan Darmon (2023)

This is a huge recruiting weekend that will go a very long way in the development of the 2020 recruiting class. A recruits never gonna make their decision off of one game, but a good showing and probably win this weekend wouldn’t hurt Tennessee’s chances at landing these guys. The next few days are going to be very important for Tennessee’s class.
