One of the many honors a senior or fourth-year junior can achieve is an invite to the Reese’s Senior Bowl. Jauan Jennings and Darrell Taylor represented Tennessee at the event last year, and there is already one Tennessee senior who will be participating this year.
Senior receiver Josh Palmer has officially accepted his invite to the Senior Bowl.

He is one of the three players from Tennessee to receive invitations. Seniors Shawn Shamburger and Trey Smith have also been invited, but there has been no announcement regarding their decision as of yet.
Palmer participating in the Senior Bowl all but closes any thoughts of him returning to Tennessee next season. The Senior Bowl is primarily an event that players use to showcase their talents as they head towards the NFL Draft process.
When asked about the possibility of him returning in 2021 Palmer said, “I haven’t really considered it right now. I’m just waiting to see how this season plays out.” He was also asked about what could alter his decision to which he replied with, “I haven’t really weighed all of the options yet. I’m just ready to get out with my team and win these next few games.”
There was at least a bit of optimism that Palmer was considering returning to play next season given that this season does not count towards eligibility and the comments made when asked about it, but this decision shows that he has already made his mind up about moving towards the NFL Draft.
The senior has been the Vols’ leading receiver in 2020 with 26 receptions for 367 yards and 4 touchdowns. The 4 touchdowns caught are a career-high for Palmer as he has been the primary target for Tennessee quarterbacks this season.
Palmer has been able to improve his draft stock and is on pace to reach career-highs in receptions and receiving yards. He is currently viewed as a top-125 prospect for the 2021 NFL Draft, and could see his stock improve even more.
The Senior Bowl is currently scheduled to be played on Saturday January 30th, but could also change as we get closer.
