Top UT Targets & Commits Set To Compete In Nationally Implicated Games

by | Oct 18, 2019

It is make or break time for high school football teams around the country. Every game matters, but now there are even more implications at stake. Tonight Vol Recruiting Reports will be across the South East covering games, as Tennessee top targets and commits will play in massive games across the nation.

1- St. Frances versus IMG Academy

The Facts- Nationally ranked No.4 IMG (FL) will travel to Nationally ranked No.2 St. Frances (MD) for the national game of the week. St. Frances comes in with the best defensive front seven in all of high school football. They will look to defend their home turf against the perennial powerhouse from the Sunshine State. This game is littered with Division 1 college prospects. The big-name to know is Tennessee commitment, Dominic Bailey. Bailey is a long-time pledge to the Vols and will get another chance to show off his talents against some of the nation’s best. Bailey wreaked havoc against Miami Central(FL) during week one on national TV. Look for him to do the same again tonight.

2- Marietta versus McEachern

The Facts- If you follow Tennessee recruiting, then there is not much that I need to tell you about when it comes to Marietta. This matchup features two teams ranked in the top 50 in the nation and top 5 in 7A football in Georgia. The cornerstone of this class, Harrison Bailey, will lead a potent Marietta offensive attack against cross-town rival McEachern. Bailey will sling to the pigskin to five-star Arik Gilbert, Tennessee’s top remaining target, and Michigan State commitment, Ricky White. Everybody knows the deal with Gilbert, in my opinion, he is the best player in the country. Jeremy Pruitt feels the same. The Vols are still battling hard here. White exploded onto the scene even more after the move to Marietta. Tennessee hosted him for a visit a couple of weekends ago and continue to turn up the heat. On the defensive side of the ball, expect to hear BJ Ojulari’s name called a lot. The edge rusher will get plenty of chances to get after Florida QB commitment, Carlos Del Rio. Ojulari’s ability has been on full display against the best of the best this season. Look for him to make a play when it matters the most.

3- Baylor versus Knoxville Catholic

The facts- This is the game that I will attend tonight. I would normally make the four-hour roundtrip to Marietta, but given the fact that I had them last week and Bailey is not giving interviews right now, I am heading to Chattanooga. This game is not as big nationally, but it stills holds a ton of significance in the state of Tennessee. Knoxville Catholic has been on a tear with Kaden Martin at the reigns. The Irish will bring two big-name prospects on Tennessee’s radar for the 2020 class in Tyler Baron and Cooper Mays. Baron is a high priority because of his versatility on the defensive line. He can rush with his hand in the dirt, or he can stand up as more of an outside backer. Mays embodies everything that Tennessee needs in this class. A desire to win, a warrior’s mentality, and not to mention, he is a pretty good interior lineman. Another prospect of note from Catholic in this one is electric 2022 playmaker Tommy Winton. At Baylor, the storyline revolves around 2021 Vol commit, Elijah Howard. Howard is making a case for Mr. Football in the state’s toughest classification. His electric, game-breaking speed is what sets him apart. Howard will have ample opportunities to showcase his talents against the Irish defense.

Another game to note is St. John’s (Rakim Jarrett and Mordecai McDaniel) versus Our Lady of Good Counsel. This is a match-up of two top 75 teams and a big game in the conference for both.
